What Should You Never Haul on a Trailer?

Home 5 News 5 What Should You Never Haul on a Trailer?

One of the reasons that trailers are so popular is their versatility. They can be used to easily transport many different kinds of goods and materials. However, there are certain types of items that you should never attempt to transport in your trailer. For your safety, the experts at Silver Moon Trailers have compiled a list of those items, which you can find below.

1. Hazardous Materials

Under no circumstances should you use your trailer to transport chemicals, oil, gasoline, or propane. There is a high risk that these flammable materials might leak or spill, creating a massive fire hazard. Transporting explosives in your trailer is also not a good idea because the rocking of your trailer might set some of them off.

2. Large Animals

With most types of cargo, the only safety concerns are whether the cargo falls within the weight limit and whether it is properly secured. Safely transporting a living animal is a different story. Unless you are using a horse trailer, your trailer is most likely not designed with the animal’s safety in mind, which could result in injury.

3. Sharp Objects

Try to avoid transporting cargo with sharp edges when possible, as these kinds of objects can damage your trailer. When there is simply no other option available, make sure that the cargo is well-secured and kept away from your trailer’s tires. This will help reduce the chances of a blowout.

4. Heavy Machinery

There are certain types of trailers specially designed to transport heavy machines, such as tractors or front-end loaders. Attempting to transport these machines in a trailer not suited for this purpose, even if you are within weight limits, will likely result in damage to the trailer and cargo.
